BH 120 Years

The new capital of Minas Gerais was founded On December 12, 1897. In 2017, this capital completed 120 years in celebration. Daily life in this city is moved through arts, culture, gastronomy, music and much more that encourages it’s permanent renovation and helps it’s development. many services and attractions are offered with the tradition and hospitality of Minas Gerais.

Mineirão

Since it was founded in 1965 with the goal  of receiving the big public for soccer games of the teams from the capital, Mineirão was important for Belo Horizonte’s soccer to develop both in the national and international scenarios. Besides that, there is the "Museu Brasileiro do Futebol (MBF)", showing the complete history of Mineirão. Also the "Visita Guiada" shows the backstage areas, where the players warm up, press conference room that is used after every game by the teams, and the visitors can go to the field to see this big view of the whole stadium.

Parque Municipal

It’s a place were people can enjoy and contemplate the city. Known as Parque Municipal, it was founded together with Belo Horizonte in 1897. Today it is an environmental and cultural park that can bring peace into the big city.

 

Palácio da Liberdade

One of BH’s major postal cards. Palácio da Liberdade is a big construction and the most important buildings of Praça da Liberdade. Political and social decisions were made in this palace that marked the history of people from Minas Gerais and Brazil.

 

Edifício Acaiaca

Designed in 1943, by the architect Luiz Pinto Coelho, Acaiaca Building opened in 1947. One of it's main features is a "carranca" that is a kind of mask to represent the Acaiaca's indian tribe. It is displayed in front of the building on both sides.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Conjunto da Pampulha

Pampulha Complex has an extraordinary and universal value because of its big meaning for current and future generations of this state. It is a big representative of the world’s architectural history. The 5 different points exhibit above, are: Igreja da Pampulha, Museu de Arte da Pampulha (MAP), CASA DO BAILE, Iate Tênis Clube, Casa Kubitschek. 

 

Mercado Central

Praça da Liberdade

With imperial palms on both sides Praça da Liberdade has gardens, coretos and marble statues. Located in front of Palácio da Liberdade, the square has multiple constructions that were built during the time of the capital’s transfer.

 

Palácio das Artes

Managed by the Clóvis Salgado Foundation, Palácio das Artes is the greatest cultural center of BH, responsible for a lot of cultural productions.

 

Cine Belas Artes

Located close to Praça da Liberdade, the cinema has three comfortable rooms and a cafe. It exhibits national movies or movies that are not on theaters anymore. There is the "Sessão da Madrugada" every Saturday, with the exhibition of super productions, short films and documentaries.

Inhotim

Began as a private property, located in Brumadinho, but later became a place that showcases this big collection of contemporaneity art. Also there is this big botanic collection, bringing together rare species that come from all around the world.

Mariana

It is easy to explore Mariana. Some of it’s attractions include traditional baroque churches, besides the Passage Mine that has a trolley car to take the guests into the mine, when they get down there, a guide will show them around.

Congonhas

In Congonhas, one of the aspects that most attract the public, is the famous “Santuário do Bom Jesus de Matosinhos”, which is a series of 12 sculptures of different prophets, sculpted with soap stone by Antônio Francisco Lisboa, better known as Aleijadinho.

Ouro Preto

The town has, as some of it’s attractions, bridges, fountains and squares with a baroque style, there are many different churches, like the St.Francisco of Assis Church for the 18th century. Our Preto is one of Humanity’s Cultural Patrimony’s. 
 

 

Tiradentes

Tiradentes is a very attractive city. The tourists should particularly visit the Igreja Matriz de Santo Antonio built by the sculptor Aleijadinho. Also the tourists can enjoy and walk through the streets of stone, appreciate the colonial mansions and take advantage to know the local handicrafts, demolition furniture, etc. It is worth checking the restaurants that go from the traditional food of Minas Gerais to the international cuisine. The image on right shows The old public jail where the Sant'ana Museum now operates. For many years they preserved the dungeon where it happen the torture of prisoners.
